LGAF 3E is a grease-like soft paste specifically designed to prevent fretting corrosion between metallic contact surfaces in loose fits. Fretting corrosion, or frictional wear, is caused by oscillatory relative motion of the contact surfaces under load, which causes micro-movements in the mating joint. This can cause severe damage to bearings and other machine parts, making removal virtually impossible.
