Thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) bearing caps are available to cover the shaft ends. They are resistant to most chemicals and are suitable for operating temperatures up to 100 °C (210 °F). They form an effective seal with the housing by overlapping. Four circumferential locking surfaces provide positive locking with the housing, so a locked cover must be rotated before it can be removed.
