In the linear guide with ball chain, the ball chain enables controlled circulation of the balls evenly distributed in the ball circuit, preventing friction between the balls.
The balls run in four precision-ground raceways between a guide rail and a carriage integrated end plates allow the balls to circulate.
Each row of balls is ground at a contact angle of 45° so that the loads acting on the carriage act uniformly in the four directions (radial, reverse radial and tangential), enabling the linear guide to be used in all mounting positions. In addition, the carriage can be given a preload which increases the rigidity in the four directions. At the same time, a constant, low coefficient of friction is maintained with constant running characteristics. With the low overall height and high rigidity of the LM block, Type SHS achieves highly accurate and stable linear motion.
